Last Day...of my colorful life in Deloitte

it's 2.10am and my eyes are shutting down...but I still wanna blog a little about all my emotions and feelings now...

Today 31st March 2006, marks my last day at Deloitte, a place that I've been so familiar with for the past 2.5years.

N my love for Deloitte is because of her people, my dearest dearies which I spend my 2.5years with. I miss you all...

I still remember my very first day with Deloitte, during my attachment days where Deloitte was still at Pidemco Centre. All of us, ALL donned in solemn black suits reported for work...N thereafter we had lunch buffet with our mentor buddies and managers. I rem Tarcie, my buddy, bringing us to this market behind Chinatown Point for lunch...Shortly after, I was assigned Dow as one of my major jobs. N that was where my stint at Dow started, where I got to know Gerry, Aileen, Jeff, etc......
I will also never ever forget the BATs (Business Attachment Trainees as we were named) coming together to do a PARA PARA dance performance during the Deloitte Family Day 2003. Gosh PAra Para!! yes the Aaron Kwok one.....Simon was our monitor and Poh Ling our monitress. It was great fun!!

I also remember my next '1st' day with Deloitte, 1 Sep 2003 (at the new premises at DBS Tower 2), when i started work with Deloitte as a full time employee after graduation. I remember how once again, everyone was donned in serious solemn black suits with black court shoes (gosh how dowdy is that haa) . The orientation day was fun, will never forget we had scavenger hunt at Shenton Way!! Running ard in our painful squeaky brand new court shoes in broad daylight, looking for buildings on the 'Scavenger Hunt' List, a game to allow us to get familiar with the surroundings. It was an experience, running ard in suits and court shoes, with perspirations seeping thru our crisp and well ironed suits.
I remember going round the departments in Deloitte, to get stationery, labtop (I got a brand new IBM X31!!), locker key (with fierece Ivy), employee pass, searching for our pigeon hole number n looking for our lockers in the 'Cave'...

Today, I did exactly the same, going round the departments, only that this time, it's the other way round, giving back to the firm what they had given my 2.5 years ago.
Clearing my locker and table on Wednesday and today filled me with overwhelming emotions. As I was clearing my locker, mainly stored with 'chicken files' (for non-auditors, basically working documents not needed anymore but kept just in case the documents are needed somehow again), memories just flowed unrelentlessly thru my brain as I looked thru the papers that have accumulated over the past 2.5 years. I cannot describe the kind of sadness as I started dumping the chicken files into the 'Paper Recycling Bin'.

There was this ring file I kept during my A10 year, which I meticulously inserted dividers (made from Deloitte reply envelopes) into different sections, Cash Count, Stock Count, Timesheets, Dow documents. I was too free then, had time to sort out every single piece of paper I had on my hands. However, busyness overwhelm me as the months went on, and everything just got chucked into folders. I think I emptied at least..hmm...20 to 30 folders over the past 3 days.
Sadly, today, I cleared all of the folders and chuck the papers into the bin. Perusing thru the materials I've stored for over 2.5 years gives me tingling heartaches. Slowly by surely, everything got chucked into the bin...It was a symbolic act for me. What's past is past. I have to put the past aside and move on.

I miss my days in Deloitte. I really do. Those lunches with my fellow peers where many work stories were exchanged, training sessions, outings, dinners, every single sec spent with my dearest Dow Team (both ex and current members), mentor dinners, D&Ds, Christmas lunches, gym sessions...etc...Too much to say, too many to name. Right now, I can only keep these in my head. Everything is of the past, a memory.

Memories are sweet. U can't physically see and experience the past again. But memories linger on, in your heart. N my memories in Deloitte will linger on, for a long long time.


The below poem is what I thought of about half hour before physically leaving Dow (my client's place) late yesterday afternoon, for the last time. It's specially dedicated to my dearest Dow team. Dow is my biggest client. The Dow team is one which i spent the most of my time with over the past 2.5 years. Each year, about 5-6months is spent with the Dow team. N all of us (about 12 of us) work in one huge conference room together....So our bonding is very strong, or rather, unbreakable...
(In fact, sometimes I do feel more like I'm part of Dow rather than Deloitte! haha)
I left Dow yesterday, with an extremely heavy heart..

well, will blog about my last day in Deloitte tom! My colleagues were so sweeet.
Now is time to go to sleep.....and learn to let go....
