Ten Things....

Ok..since theres this crazy fad going on about blogging 10 things abt urself... I shall hereby blog 10 things I notice abt this country...HONGKONG!! 10 things I noticed abt the place, pple, food etc etc since my move here....

1) Theres always bound to be some water drops dripping on you as you walk thru the streets!
Somebody has gotta fixed those leaking air condition condensers! Everywhere u walk in HK. BEWARE OF DRIPPING WATER!!

2) All the porridge here...taste almost as smooth as the Crystal Jade one!!!! YUmmMMM

3) the Hilllsss are alive...with the sound of Music
Yes, HK is reallly extremely hilly...Slopes everywhere!!!
I get all huffyy and puffy walking up that slope to my place from the marketplace area.

4) Taxi Drivers here are extremely .....weird! So far, just 2 short months, met taxi drivers who:
- Give u a BLACK face when u tell em where u wanna go in mandrin
- Scold you upside down for driving up a slope tts dead end (but have space to U turn!!!)
- Cheat you of some change (I dont usually have the habit of checking my change in the cab before I alight...now I try to!)
- Talk to himself for the WHOLE cab journey! ( i was freaking out)
- Speed down the slope and suddenly jam brake

Only good thing about taxis here, you can almost get a taxi at any time within 10 mins. No need to call cab! Oh and over here, calling cab even gives u cheaper rates if you want to go to the kowloon side!! haha funny

5) Everybody here does FACEBOOK (www.facebook.com).
Friendster is out

6) At KTVs here, pple dont just sing. They drink, smoke, play card and dice games
And KTV is known as 'Cheung K'. Ngor oi hoi Cheung K ( I want to go sing karaoke)

7) The weather here is mad! Super hot to super wet to super windy to super terrible air!
The fog can be so bad that all the buildlings can disappear suddenly from my sight!!!

8) Food here in general is more expensive than SG. Lunch cost a minimum of 25 HKD (tts 5 SGD). No S$2.50 bah chor mee..i miss u...
BUT...the only cheaper food i found was....
EGG TARTS!..n super delicious egg tarts, only cost 2 to 3 HKD!!!!!
i love egg tarts..........

9) Its a norm for a family of 5 to stay in a 400sq feet house. Tts the size of my current house!
Treasure ur space back home in spore!

10) Octupus card (their MRT transitlink card) can be topped up at most supermarkets, 7 elevens etc. N can be used to buy food at many many many places (not just MacDs!!)...super convenient!!!

Actually think i have more observations...will leave em for laters............

GOod nite all!

Luv from HK!

fun time!

THanks j onnie wongie for tagging me...wahahaa N i will not dishonor that...here goes:

Rules of the game: Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end, you must choose six people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks.

1) When I was in primary school all the way till Sec 2, I was this really shy, reserved and quiet girl in class. Never daring to make a the slightest buzz, a single comment or show a single bit of opinion. I remember being sooo afraid of my Form Teacher Miss Tan,that on my last day in Pri 6, whilst taking a picture with her, i folded the sides of my skirt in so that it will not touch her at all! haaa

2) I like to iron clothes. That is my favorite household chore. It just pleases me to see creases fading away....

3) Some of you may not have realised it. My scarS (yes not one but 2) on my forehead. The first scar: A Horizontal One -This one was from a freak accident when I was 4 years old maybe? I cannot remember. Ask my Ma Ma.It happened during a big gathering of relatives from both my mum and dad side at my Granny's house (not sure what the gathering was for though). Was playing soccer with my cousins in the house. The ball went under a GLASS table and with my determined character, I charged twds geting the ball. Ended up slipping on a magazine and hitting my flawless forehead against the sharp end of the glass table, resulting in a BIG LOBANG!I remembered my Dad scooping me up in his arms with my mama crying uncontrollably beside, my uncle driving the car to the hospital. N I remember the doctor injecting a large green syringe into my forehead. N some fussing ard my head. N then finally I remember the doctor telling my dad n mum how brave a girl I was. Strangely I dont remember seeing any blood. (but there was a lot of cos haha)

The second scar: A vertical One (exact same spot as number 1) - This one, is a litle less serious than the first. Once again, it happened at my Granny's plce ( we were al staying with GRanny then). My sister Roanna, was still a tiny baby and I so love her! ONe day, I was in the kitchen having my lunch and I heard her crying in the room. I ran and slipped faling forward and hit my forehead against the corner of the wall!!My granny panicked, put some cloth on my head to stop the bleeding and scooping me up in her arms and rushing me to the nearby clinic..
So there u have it..sounds like a cross on my forehead? hahaWill I ever get rid of these scars...I dont't know?

4) I love the under water world!! I used to think I was Ariel (LIttle mermaid) when I was young. I watched the cartoon many times a day after schoool and would used to think my voice was as good as Ariel while mimicking her singing "Part of the World".N maybe tt explained my determination to get the PADI certification! BUt only dived ONCE =(

5) I ... have FLAT feet.( guy at New balance shop even said my feet i caving in!!)
So cant wear those pretty skinnily cut shoes Boo Hoo

6) I used to be the'Deputy Minister of Clean Environment' in the Yong Family. (tts what my dad called me)Cause I would used to have this thinking that there are germs everywhere and would be very aware of cleaning utensils properly at eating places, not putting plastic bags on the floor outside then bringing it back home and putting them on the chair; When bathing in public toilets (like at camps), be very careful in not hanging my clothes/towel such that they are directly in contact with any surface such as the door, wall etc (they must be in a plastic bag!).But...all these have changed. I now..DIRTY! haa. nah..but am not too concerned abt little bitsies now..think since I was a 'chambermaid' back in Yellowstone days. hahaa! What an impact.

7) I love thrills and adrenalin rushes. Whether is it that roller coaster, that white water rafting, repelling, rope river jumping experiences, or just rushing through something at work and producing it one time.

8) I always wanted to be a very young and hip mum. (guess its too late now n i was never hIP! hahaha)

9) My childhood ambitions: Chinese Teacher (cause I like the long long chinese text book teacher's guide. Remember?); Cashier; Bank Teller; MISS UNIVERSE. My sisters and I used to design our 'gowns' with blankets wrapped round us and clothes peg. N we will also make a sash and our crown, is a visor turned upside down on the head! (so creative right!) and if we want long hair (my sisters and I were all from AI TONG PRI SCH which DISALLOWS LONG HAIR! So during that 6 years in Ai Tong, we always crave for Long Hair!), we would tear off the holey sides of the old computer paper and stick them strip by strip on a hairband. N VIOLA! we have long hair! whahaa I wish I had pictures of those days!

10) One of my most prized earthly possessions: My Yamaha Piano. It has faithfully followed me for 22 years now! ! Miss u Mr Yamaha....

6 pple i want to tag!
1) Jean Ho
2) Wenhui
3) Sooting
4) Vera
5) Justin
6) Marilyn Huang
