It's Fishing Time!!!

Had a great deal of fun with my beloveds again in solid rock!.....We got together on Sat to prepare for the launch of the theme for Solid Rock for the year "It's Fishing Time aka To be Fishers Of Man" on Sunday!

Reflecting on being a Fisher of Man for Christ, I think I have been totally...disappointing.....the number of pple that I've shared the gospel with in the past year..can be counted with my 10 fingers? =(
The launch of this theme at SR is a perfect reminder for all of us really. I ought to reflect and make sharing the love of Christ a part of my life...Not just do it once in a while, but really live a live that glorifies HIm and a life that will draw others to Jesus Christ.

Anywyas, the program went on fine! Great Job ESSRs, both old and new flood!! (Though I felt it could have been better if it was not so 'last minute' Agreed? heh) We had a puppet dance to the song of Let our light shine-HIllsongs!! Followed by a skit about how Jesus called Simon and Andrew to follow Him while they were by their boat fishing. I was one of the puppeters (Was Andrew)...and boy, i really think my stamina is bad bad bad!!! felt totally exhausted after the puppet show.....Rite Xiao DI? haha..Really need to train up my biceps more!!! =)
We also had little kits for the kids with 'tools' for them to encourage their frens, like little pass it on cards, prayer list etc!!! There's even a mini fishing rod for them to hang on the names of their frens they are praying for! Pray that the little skit left an impact on the children and all of us will be so excited about fishing !!! =)

HEre's a peeeeek at the practice and the real thing!

Before Prac...FOOD FIRST!! THanks Asta for the Pizzas!

You love me? You love me not?
Xiaodi was the puppeter for Babe(the Chick in the picture below)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY!

Today is mummy's birthday!!! Happy blessed birthday Mum!! love yoU! tonnes!!!My mama is a super mummy! Always putting everyone else first before her. All the sacrifices she has made...and overflowing love she has poured on us...."tien xia zhi you mama hao". Simple sweet song but its so true! =)
The birthday celebration started last Sunday..heh..went to Waraku for an early birthday dinner. Sophia came along too cos her birthday is one day after my mum's! N today, celebrated the big day for my Mummy by going for a simple 'Fish steamboat' dinner followed by durians at home and cake cutting with beloved Aunt Linda n Vera! It has always been a tradition in my family that everyone of us MUST MUST MUST have a cake cutting 'ceremony' on our birthdays. Hee. So i grew up thinking that this is what everyone does. But realised many of my frens dun really have such a habit at home. So well, my mummy got a superly delicious cake from Sweet Secrets!! It's called Chocolate Royale! It's really.....beyond description. Thick yummy throat-a-licious choc..but yet not too heavy and not too sweet...with a light crisp layer of biscotti to top it off.. Made the discovery on Kelly's birthday dinner on Wednesday. Eunice got that cake. Thanks Eunice, realised I always discover great chocolate cakes thru u!! hahaa..Rive Gaunche (our 21st bdae cakes)
Anyways, this week is a birthday weeeek!!! wheee....Think I had quite some birthday celebration, first kelly's, then my colleague's and then my mama and sophia's birthday tom! N my grandmama, nai nai's birthday celebration is at my house on sunday! Gonna have a mega party for her this year. Think she invited about 40 plus pple for her birthday bash! Really excited abt it!!!!! She hasn't had such a mega celebration for a long time. Usually it's just dinner with my aunties and uncles and cuzzies. My Aunt ordered a huge birthday cake for her toO! Really pray nai nai will enjoy herself with her frens... =)

As usual...some pics in chronological order! Well...those who know me will know i bring my camera almost everywhere i gO! hahaa

At Waraku last sunday - Early Bdae Celebration for Mum and Soph, my tenant!

Soph has an album!!!! Cool! Shes an awesome classical pianist with a degree in music!!! Gonna graduate in a month's or 2 and tt album is part of her last projects!

Kelly's Birthday Dinner!
At Spizzico at UE Square. Great pasta! Perfect Ambience! Sweet Company!

OOhhh...just litttle worthy story to share....
The one in white and in specs are Noeline and Eunice respectively (in pic below), both my precious sec sch buddies. Really miss those days..."Pyramid Game" after sch!! hahaa
N the birthday gal, Kelly(holding the cake below), knew her since PRIMARY 1!! She was my best fren in lower pri..was in the same class as her all the way from Pri 1 to 6...but we kinda drifted apart from Pri 4, cos we fell out after a 'feeding goldfish incident' Haaaaaa!!! Thinking back it's really hilarious!!
but well, we went on to the same sec sch, Cedar Girls and she got into the same lower sec class as Noeline and Eunice and they became superly great frens! N then, I got into the same Upper sec class as Noeline n became good frens....Thus, thru Noeline, I got to know Eunice and got 'reunited' with Kelly all over again!!!!!!!!! Good frens never part..heh

Tada....Me on the left and Kelly on the right...
Our younger daze

And here!..My Mama's birthday cake cutting ceremony!!
Pray my mum will look so smiley and remain joyful in the Lord always...
Doesn't she look blissful?

Well and on a heavier note, this week was work work work work work! Well kinda expected...first 3 months at work = Steep learning curve. N I'm feeling it. Getting constant hits of 'memory recapping' aka pre exam jitters. This whole week, ever nite felt like the nite before an exam paper, where u constantly try to recall and recap ALL that you have read and learnt during the preparation- for- exams- period. I haven had such jitters for a long long time. Every nite on bed, I will start thinkng about what i've learnt and all during the day at work. But well, pray things will get better as the days pass on and I get a better understanding of how all the diff systems link up and all. But really Praise God for a good working environment! Have helpful colleagues and bosses! =)

Tom gonna meet ESSR for our launch of "It's Fishing Time" in Solid Rock on Sunday!! yippeee!!
Good nite!

Life after Nepal..

Wow...have been back for a week and 2 days now from Nepal. But it felt like I've been back much longer, guess it's because many things have been going on since coming back from Nepal...Start of my new job etc etc....But amidst the busyness, I still very much think of the boys back in Nepal....
I really miss them..their laughters, chats with them etc etc...Some of them have been emailing us. But they can only access emails about once a week? So will need some time before they can reply our emails...sigh..I really miss them!!!!! Wondering what they do everyday in the home..since they cant really go out now with the curfews and all. The situation seems to have worsened from the news...Pray the Lord's peace and joy will be with them during this tough period.. =(

Below are just some little updates of my life after coming home from Nepal!
Who says Singapore doesn't have seasons?
Spring is in the air!!!!!! Look...the lovely flowers just outside my house!!! This happens only once a year in April! I love FLOWERS! Makes me happy! haa

Appreciating Singapore....
After coming back from Nepal, I realised how blessed it is to be living in a peaceful country like Singapore, never experiencing curfews/strikes etc. Although many times, complains are shared about how controlled Singapore is, I must say that the government has done a great job in maintaining the peace and in 'growing' the country to where it is today.... Ha..please note that there's no propoganda intended in the above in view of the coming elections...hahaa... It's really how I feel!!

A shot taken at the overhead bridge from citylink to Suntec today!

My good fren bought a car!!!!!!
So proud of my fren! She bought a car...and sat in it for the first time today!!!! Praise the Lord..He put so many familiar people in this brand new environment!

N I LOVE MY CUBICLE!!!!!!!!! Finally...........I have my own seat after 2.5 years of working....it feels superb really. For the benefit of those not in Deloitte audit, I never had my own seat back in Deloitte. Cos we share seats as we are always not in the office but at the client's place. So its on a first come first serve basis. N I always dun get a seat and have to end up scouting ard just to get a seat in the office! Can u believe it!!! Tts one thing i really dislike., No sense of belonging..
so yes..having my own cubicle makes a whole lot of a difference. Finally i can bring my mug, my little decoratives and leave my stationery lying ard on my own desk!!!!!!!! heee....

N i love my computer screen!! we get 2 screens each. Like the bloomberg kind cos of the extensive analytics work we need to do.....woah!!

Other than the team and the aesthetics...boy...i do have a lot to learn!!!!!!!!!! Quite overhwhelmed but well, I'm all set to learn as much as I can!!!!!!!! Will draw strength from the Lord!

PRAISE GOD! IM BACK FROM NEPAL!!

Hi EVERYONE!

I miss all of you..every single one of you......though I was only gone for 9 days, it seemed longer.
Well the trip to Nepal was indeed a really fruitful one Praise God! Many stories heard, many stories shared, many testimonies to be shared, some work was done....but more work to be done......

A group of 8 of us, all from Tung Ling Bible School (graduated 31st March 2006) EXCEPT myself (in the future in the LOrd's timing yes I will join tung ling!!), visited a children's home, Peace Loving Children's Home in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. Well, it was not quite an all children's home cos the ages of the 25 boys were ranging from about 4 to 17 years old. About 16 of the boys were more than 12 years old. They are all either orphans or kids of prisoners/ex-prisoners.
This home was started by Dinesh (a lawyer by profession) assisted by his wife Kalpana (a teacher by profession). Yes. Dinesh and his wife gave up their careers just to start this home, for the children. They themselves have 4 children, 3 boys and a daughter which they adopted 5 years ago. But about13 years ago, at the Lord's calling, Dinesh decided that it was time to give up his career as a lawyer which can possibly give him much more financial wealth than opening up a children's home for prisoners' children, and started this home. Truly, a man of God.

Before I went, many pple asked me.. "What can u do there, in 9 days?"
At that time, my answer to them was, "well, Im really not sure, I guess it's just to sow a seed in the lives of the children there".
But now that I'm back, I guess my answer will now be "Not only do I want to sow a seed in the lives of the children there. I feel that this trip is really just the beginning of how God can use me to help the children in this home and maybe in the future, people in other parts of Nepal".

I have so many things to share about the trip. It was truly an eye opening experience. I thank God for the opportunity that He has given me to see all that I've seen in the 9 days we were there.

Hearing gunshots almost every other day, having to adhere to curfews, seeing soldiers walking ard pointing guns everywhere on the roads, etc..are things which I have never ever experienced before and probably never will in our peaceful environment in Singapore.

Yet, in such a situation, the 25 children in the home can still have big dreams. There was a session where we asked the kids what were their ambitions. Many of them said doctors, pilots, engineers, lawyers etc. Wow, I was amazed.

I really admire them, simply for their simple faith.

During our praise and worship sessions, the presence of God was amongst us ever so strongly. Most of the kids were worshipping with their hearts, with their hands lifted high up and praising and worshipping the Lord at the top of their voices.

Many of them believe strongly in prayer too.

There was this little boy, named Prem, about 7 year old, who fell and hurt his lower arm one day. I didn't know his arm was hurting, until I realised that he was having difficulty coloring. (He usually colors happily but that day, he was moving his hand so slowly). I went up to him and asked him what happened. Then, he started tearing! I was so shocked. Then, I realised that his arm was swollened! Ouch. It looks so painful. I was so afraid he may have broken a bone or something. I quickly took him to look for Dinesh and he simply applied salt water on the swell after checking on it. He said as Prem could still move his hand, it should be alright. Tts all he did, applying salt water. (In Singapore, I guess parents will be fussing around and screaming at the swell and applying all sorts of medication, or for the more protective ones, straight to the doctor's). I also prayed for Prem and later asked the children in his class (we divided the kids into 2 classes for lessons, below 12 and above 12) to pray for him. He rested and did not really join the class in finishing the coloring since his arm was hurting. About 2 hours later, Prem came back to me, and in his accented English, he asked 'Can pray again?' At that moment, I was so touched, that truly he has the faith that the Lord is his healer.

I was also amazed at the unity of the boys in the home. You would expect to see fights, quarrels, tensions in a home of 25 BOYS where most are in their teenage years. But no, not once did I see any of these happening. Instead, what I saw was LOVE and UNITY amongst them!

On our 2nd day at the home, we were playing an ice breaker game when one of the boys, Bikram, hit his leg against the chair and was door on the floor. His expression on the face looked painful. He tried to stand but just couldn't..I was shocked..Immediately, all the bigger boys around him pulled him up and helped him to stand by on his feet...Encouraging him to stand up strong.

There was this other time where a beggar was at the gate of the children home, begging for food. This little boy, Binaya, 4 years old went to open the gate to peep at the beggar, however, sensing danger, this other boy, Anil, about 6 years old, quickly pulled the boy back into the safety of the home and shut the gate...

Well, the above are just some of the many stories I wanna share with all of you...
Thanks to Xavier and Lester (the cameramen of the trip), we are gonna put together a video of our trip there and of cos photo presentation. Will share with u guys when they are completed.

Here are some photos to share with u guys first.. =)

The 8 of us, an awesome team...
Thank God for the UNITY that
saw us thru.. =) love u guys!

Almost everyday, we walk to the home, about 20 mins,
from our hotel. Due to the politcal unrest, many times,
vehicles were not allowed on the streets.
